Colour Me Beautiful is showing in Riga, Latvia

Colour Me Beautiful invites people of all ages to walk the runway, strike a pose and be captured live on a large screen in a bright maze of colour. Showing in beautiful Riga, Latvia’s capital, a cultural centre and the home to Staro Rīga Light Festival – an annual exhibition of outdoor installations. Join us from the 15th to the 18th November 2019 between 6pm to 11 pm.

Featuring five colourful runways leading to a vivid portrait landscape on a large LED screen, Colour Me Beautiful invites the public to play and interact. The interactive installation captures images of audience members on each of the five runways; live posting them onto a large screen – colouring you beautiful. Visitors will be captured in colour, expressing their unique stories through photographic play and performance.

Posing for the camera is one of life’s familiar social activities and the popularity of selfies shows no sign of waning. The activity connects us, creates shared memories, and evokes a sense of play and performance for all ages. Taking this sense of ‘recording the self’ and combining it with play, we use a large-scale interactive image-capturing colour screen, which is immersive and inclusive, to engage visitors of all ages and trigger selfhood and collective creativity. The installation actively explores the relationship between people, technology and physical space.
