Our Approach

Our Approach

Inspired by Tine Bech’s PhD research into the value of play, we design interactive environments that spark curiosity, break down social barriers, and foster a sense of joy and belonging. For us, play is not just about fun—it’s a meaningful way to connect more deeply with the world around us. At the heart of our work is a belief in the transformative power of play: not only to connect, but to invite reflection and offer new ways of seeing ourselves and each other.
Designing for Engagement

Designing for Engagement

When people engage with interactive, playful, and immersive work, they tend to enjoy it more—and stay with it longer. They invest in the moment. They care.

We design with this in mind, using adaptive interactive systems that encourage openness, participation, and new ways of being together.
Play is smart

Play is smart

Humans are the most playful species; play is embedded in every culture. It helps us adapt, learn, and thrive—play is a smart way of doing things. And the brilliant thing about play is that anyone can do it!
Art for all

Art for all

Play isn't just for children; it's for everyone. Sometimes, adults step back and let kids play, reinforcing a hierarchy of play where kids are seen as the primary participants. But our projects prove that adults will join in if they're encouraged—in fact they play in similar ways.
We are wired to play

We are wired to play

Biologically, we are built to play throughout life. Even as we grow older, we still seek out new, joyful experiences. Our style of play may shift, but the desire to play remains. The important thing is to act on it. To play or not to play.
Placemaking

Placemaking

We believe art has the power to transform public space—and that people make places. Our commitment is expressed through projects designed to connect people and place, contributing to a sense of belonging and collective wellbeing.
Blending art and technology

Blending art and technology

We see technology as a tool for creating shared experiences—bridging emotional, social, and geographic divides. Through the universal language of play, we invite people to step away from their screens and re-engage with their surroundings—and with one another. By taking computing beyond the screen, we explore how technology can support social connection, placemaking, and a renewed sense of presence in the physical world.
Sustainability

Sustainability

We minimise our travel carbon footprint by using public transport, sourcing materials locally, and travelling with equipment when shipping is required. For short festivals and exhibitions, we stay on-site to avoid commuting—embracing the chance to connect with new places and communities.

Our materials are responsibly sourced, often recycled from previous projects and chosen for their potential to be reused in future works. Nothing is wasted; everything is repurposed to support a collaborative, low-impact practice.

We design for disassembly, making our installations easy to take apart, reconfigure, and reuse—supporting circularity, flexibility, and resource-sharing across projects.

We also embrace older technologies when they are energy-efficient and cost-effective. We support the ‘right to repair’ and avoid the cycle of constant upgrading, which contributes to unnecessary technological waste.
