Enchanted Exchanges is a dual-site interactive light installation spanning Glow and Lightwaves, linked by a shared lighting colour system and a live webcam feed. Audiences co-create light across both locations, transforming the spaces into a playful and participatory environment. The project explores how light can connect people across physical spaceāreimagining public space as something alive and shared.
By bridging the contemporary urban landscape of MediaCity with the historic setting of RHS Garden Bridgewater, the work uses playful participation as a tool for connectionāchallenging spatial boundaries and inviting new relationships between people, place, and public space.
At the heart of the experience is a bespoke lighting communication system that enables participants to connect across two locations through lightāinviting visitors to co-create a composition of colour in real time.
The interactive lighting system, We Believe, was originally developed for the European Capital of Culture, Aarhus 2017, where we connected two iconic Arne Jacobsen buildingsāthe Embassy of Denmark in London and Aarhus City Hall Tower in Denmarkāvia a publicly operated control room. Participants illuminated both sites in real time, creating a cross-national, participatory light dialogue.
