We Believe

We Believe

We Believe is a dual-site interactive light installation spanning two buildings or iconic landmarks. Audiences become co-creators of a choreography of connection—linking experiences across both sites through a real-time, synchronised lighting colour system and webcam feeds.

We Believe was a breathtakingly beautiful experience and a profound artistic exploration of our attitudes to the city’s public spaces."Jacob Bundsgaard, Mayor of Aarhus Municipality

A building in London is brought to life with vibrant blue and gold spotlights.
London was connected to Denmark through light, colour, and fun.

The project transforms public space into a shared, playful landscape—reimagining cultural connection across cities through light and technology.

At the heart of the experience is a bespoke lighting communication system that allows participants to connect across two locations through light—inviting visitors to co-create a composition of colour in real time.

Thanks to the people of Aarhus and Tine Bech for their ‘online illumination control’ of our beautiful Embassy building. You showed amazing creativity and caught the attention of the Londoners."
Ambassador of Denmark Mr Lars Thuesen
The Aarhus Tower in Denmark is transformed with strong vibrant colours and lights.
Two kids play with levers and buttons to activate lights in London, from a control room in Denmark.

The interactive lighting system was originally developed for the European Capital of Culture, Aarhus 2017, where we connected two iconic Arne Jacobsen buildings—the Embassy of Denmark in London and Aarhus City Hall Tower in Denmark—via a publicly operated control room. Participants illuminated both sites in real time, creating a cross-national, participatory light dialogue.

The project is designed to tour — get in touch to hear more.

The We Believe project was one of the most popular projects during the European Capital of Culture, Aarhus 2017 – it was seen from afar by over 150,000 people (Aarhus) and lots of people talked about it. The visitors were amazed and proud when they realised they could control the colour & design on Aarhus City Hall Tower in Denmark and The Embassy of Denmark in London – two iconic Arne Jacobsen buildings."
