“It was getting dark and the damp air was now a steady drizzle as the chill of a December evening intensified…
(Adult) If anyone’s feeling cold and wet, we could head back.
(Child) I like cold and wet, cold and wet is good”

Extract from ‘Playground equipment: postdigital design and the mechanics of history, urban space, and play’ by Professor Seth Giddings. We were testing ‘Light Bug’ an interactive light swing developed in collaboration with children and Seth is writing about our project, where we explored “how might a playground equipment be rethought and redesigned, adjusted, or augmented for a postdigital era?

Many of Tine Bech’s project are co-created with people. Light Bug was designed with the help of 10 children who taught me “Rainbow should be the highest . . . the flashing one should be the highest.”
