We are developing Glasskoven (The Glass Forest), a new permanent outdoor artwork for a kindergarten in Rønde, Denmark.
The installation creates a forest of tall coloured glass columns for children, families and staff to move between and explore. Transparent coloured glass catches the daylight, casting shifting pools and lines of colour across the ground.
At the heart of the work, one unique mirrored glass column reflects visitors and the surrounding landscape, creating a subtle landmark within the installation.
The work has been designed with sunlight, movement and play at its centre. As the sun moves throughout the day and across the seasons, the experience of the artwork changes with it. Colours overlap, reflections appear and disappear, and visitors become part of the changing composition.
Glasskoven responds to the kindergarten’s emphasis on movement, outdoor life and sensory development. Rather than creating an object to be viewed from a distance, the artwork becomes a landscape to enter, move through and experience together.
The project continues Tine Bech Studio’s exploration of how colour, light and simple physical encounters can invite curiosity, play and connection.
