Glasskoven
Public Art Installation
Glasskoven (The Glass Forest) is a site-specific permanent outdoor artwork, created for a new kindergarten in Rønde, Denmark. A forest of tall coloured glass columns invites children and adults to move through a shifting landscape of light, colour and reflection.

The work has been designed with sunlight, movement and play at its centre. As the sun moves throughout the day and across the seasons, the experience of the artwork changes with it. Colours overlap, reflections appear and disappear, and visitors become part of the changing composition.
Among the coloured columns, one unique mirrored glass column acts as a subtle landmark and meeting point. Its reflective surface captures visitors and the surrounding landscape, bringing people, nature and the artwork into continual dialogue.
Experienced through the body, Glasskoven creates a sensory journey shaped by sunlight, movement and shared presence. The work responds to the kindergarten’s ethos of play, outdoor life, movement and sensory development, creating a place for exploration, spatial awareness, curiosity and social interaction.
Designed for long-term outdoor use, the installation uses robust materials suited to an active environment for children. When the kindergarten is closed, the artwork will remain open to the wider community, offering a shared public space for all ages. Glasskoven becomes a playful landscape to enter, move through and experience together.
